Rawlands Nordavinden (58cm only)
The Nordavinden (North Wind) is a high quality and versatile lightweight touring bike frame and fork. It is ideal for Audax or Randonneur jaunts but can cope with the odd bit of unsealed road surface. As with the rest of the range they are assembled in Taiwan by a factory with an excellent reputation for workmanship. Tubing is chromoly throughout (double butting and heat treated on the key tubes), TIG welded. Rawland frames are known for their extremely low weight. The frame comes with chainstay protector and seat clamp installed. The fork comes with the longest steering tube ever, so you have plenty of scope for high handlebars.
For the full geometry please click thumbnail. The larger three sizes are designed for 700C wheels and medium length calliper brakes. The smallest is intended for 650B and deep drop calipers. All come with mountings for mudguards and Nitto front rack.
As with much of the Rawland range, the Nordavinden features Low Trail geometry. This was a feature of French Porteur bikes which provides docile steering characteristics suitable for variable road conditions. The geometry also encourages front mounting of loads without affecting handling. This is ideal for a day ride bike as you save precious riding time if your personal effects are close to hand in front of you.
